Pungent Stench - Ampeauty

by joseangeles@muchomail.com

Remember when Entombed did that death n' roll thing with Wolverine Blues? Their death metal stuff was amazing but that garage rock sound was cool still. Pungent Stench kinda does the same thing here. A classic death metal band starts rocking out. And by rocking, I mean combining their abrassive classic death metal elements with doom/sludgy psychadellic southern rock. Pretty slow grooving metal with vocals that remind me of Goldar from Power Rangers. This is like Crowbar, Black Sabbath, Pentagram, Acid Bath, and Down (shut up, I don't care, I like Down) with a strong death metal influence. The music is what death metal in New Orleans would sound like in the 70's. I really like the lyrics too. Interesting way to tell the story of the Iraqi prison abuse in that one She-wolf song. Probably the best death metal release Nuclear Blast has had in years.
