Khanate - s/t

What we have here is the soundtrack to a serial killer's fucked up little mind. It's the kinda music you end up playing when you're in a disturbing antisocial mood and just want to make a "skin coat" out of everyone that gets on your nerves...hence why this CD is always on at my house (life, when isn't it screwed?). The simplistic and almost dark ambient drone/doom riffs create a slow brooding madness riddled with feedback and which serves as the sick world for Alan Dubin to unleash his violent shrieks. There is nothing else like it and it may be a bit too experimental for conventional doom fans. You'll either love or hate how ridiculously slow and crushing the atmosphere is. But what do you expect from Stephen O'Malley, the guitar genius (or guitar loser for you guys that just don't get the appeal) behind Sunn0))), Burning Witch, and Thorr's Hammer? This is O'Malley's greatest project if you ask me (if you haven't heard his other bands, go with Khanate first). So for the tortured souls surfacing this earth as they're at the brink of insanity, this album is a masterpiece.
